Brake Inspection and Repair at Rice Tire
We know that fixing your brakes can be expensive. But, it is more expensive when you wait on getting needed repairs done. You can also cause extensive damage by waiting. Worn down brakes will affect your car’s ability to slow down or even come to a complete stop. Which can result in you not stopping in time to avoid an accident or worse, hitting someone.
Regular brake inspections will help you plan for, or avoid, other costly vehicle repairs due to weak brakes. And will help you prepare for a brake replacement.
It’s easy to keep an eye on the brakes. The rained technicians at Rice Tire can look at them while they are doing your routine oil and filter changes and tire rotations.
We are tire specialists and more. We know a thing or two about brakes. Our technicians have the experience to make sure your brakes are in good working order. And they will be able to tell you when it’s time for a replacement.
At Rice Tire we don’t just inspect the pads and rotors either, we look at the entire system end to end. In today’s world where more horsepower always seems to be the name of the game, think for a minute what would happen if you couldn’t slow down. Beyond terrifying, it becomes incredibly dangerous! Especially on high performance cars. Our inspections
Signs your brakes need to be repaired
Listen to your car. Your brakes will tell you when there is an issue with them.
- Do your brakes squeak when you apply the brakes? That squeaks mean that your brakes are starting to get worn. At this point, you might need to replace the pads. However, if the noise starts to turn into a grinding noise, you probably have a more significant issue. You will need to replace the rotors or drums.
- Service Light. Some vehicles have disc brakes that will trigger your service light when there is an issue. Is your service light on? You should always have your car checked to see what the issue it. If it is the brakes, getting them fixed will resolve the issue.
- Brake fluid. When you press down on the brake pedal, do your brakes feel unresponsive? Yes? Then your brake fluid could be low. It may be a simple fix, and you need to just add some fluid. When a large amount of brake fluid needs to be replaced, you will want to check for a leak in the brake lines.
- Brake Pedal to the Floor. When you feel like your brake pedal is going all the way to the floor yet nothing or very little is happening. It’s a sign to get your master cylinder checked. It’s responsible for storing the brake fluid and sends to each cylinder. It creates the force that gives your vehicle its stopping power. A bad master cylinder will cause your brakes to lose resistance and affect the vehicles ability to stop.
