About Rice Tire
Founded in 1956, Rice Tire has spent the last 63 years delivering extensive auto repairs to satisfied customers throughout the Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. area. We focus on building strong customer relationships and providing the highest quality of workmanship on each and every automotive repair.
Donald B. Rice, Sr. went into business in 1929, opening a Gulf Service Station on South Market Street in Frederick, MD. As a one-man shop, he earned a reputation for honesty and good service. In order to accommodate the growing local market for large construction and commercial vehicle tires, Donald expanded his business in 1956. As the business continued to grow, he relocated to the 700 block of East Street in 1960, and finally to 909 North East St. in 1969. The 909 North East St. facility now serves as Rice Tire ’s corporate office. Donald Rice, Sr. passed away in 1987. Ken Rice, chairman of Donald B. Rice Tire Company and the youngest of Donald Rice’s three sons, has carried on his father’s tradition since 1975. The company is now run by a management team led by Ken’s son-in-law, CEO Chris Chase.
