While Cumberland Maryland may be on the small side with only about 20,000 in its population some might say its impact on American History was absolutely enormous.
Home to Rice Tire, Cumberland is bisected by Willis Creek and the North Branch of the Potomac River. A strategic location that moved troops, commerce, and ideologies. It’s no wonder that you can find a small cabin in Riverside Park that was once the headquarters of General George Washington.

Cumberland Maryland is a great place to be and while George Washington may have chosen this are for strategic importance, Rice Tire chose it because of its people. Proud to call Cumberland home, it’s hard to be bored around here.
With the sounds of Canal Place and shopping in the surrounding area, a warm summer day just floats past like leaves on the Potomac River. Located about 6 miles from our store (see turn by turn directions below), it’s an easy ride away and many of our customer enjoy a few hours of shopping after getting their cars in tip top running order.
When you get hungry, things like Zucchini Fries from Patrick’s Pub or the BBQ and Crab flavors of the Crabby Pig are just the beginning of the food this area has to offer. Ristorante Ottaviani, El Jinete, and Puccini Restaurant are all top Trip Advisor Rated eateries that are local favorites.
If you’re interested in taking a deep dive into history and local culture the Alleghany Museum might fit the bill or if you’re looking for a little adventure, check out a murder mystery train ride adventure on the Scenic Western Maryland Railroad.
